Old Glory to Play Toronto Arrows in Preseason Fixture

Two weeks before Old Glory’s opening match against Rugby ATL, the team will host the Toronto Arrows for a preseason match on Friday, January 21. Details of this match have yet to be announced, but it’s very likely that the match will be held at the St. James, OGDC’s training facility in Springfield, Virginia. Based on prior announcements, it will be free to attend for season ticket holders, with single match tickets likely to be available as well. In 2021, the last time Old Glory played preseason matches, the 1,000-seat venue was nearly completely sold out.

Preseason matches are a great way for the team to warm up for the season. It’s an opportunity for players to get familiar with each other again, and also allows younger players a chance to see real match time. The matches are usually played with more frequent breaks and unlimited substitutions, and obviously the final result is not official.

This preseason match will be extra useful, as it will help Old Glory build familiarity with a team they will see often this season. OGDC will line up no less than three times against the Toronto Arrows this season, so a preseason match against them should help them get an early look. Old Glory played Toronto twice last season, dropping a blowout 19-40 loss at home and a tight 28-34 loss on the road. Hopefully, they’ll turn that losing streak around this year.
