Old Glory Signs Flyhalf Rohan Saifoloi

Old Glory has announced their second new signing of the offseason, Samoan-born flyhalf Rohan Saifoloi. The 30-year-old is coming in to replace Jason Robertson as the starting number ten on the team after the former’s departure to France.

Saifoloi has had an extensive career in the southern hemisphere. He played for the Australian U20 National Team when he was younger, then played for Southern Districts in the NSW Shute Shield. He has also played in Australia’s National Rugby Championship and for the Tasman Mako in the Mitre 10 Cup in New Zealand. Internationally, he has been capped by the Samoan national team, Manu Samoa. Head coach Andrew Douglas coached against Saifoloi in the Shute Shield and used that connection to pull in the veteran flyhalf.

This signing fills one of the major remaining gaps in the roster. Robertson’s depature left a huge hole at the 10 position, which was a major cause for concern. However, Saifoloi is an experienced, dynamic playmaker who should have no problem establishing himself as a quality MLR flyhalf. Expect to hear his name a lot, as he will likely play as many minutes as he is healthy for this upcoming season. This is an exciting signing for the team.
