Old Glory have officially announced the return of center/wing Doug Fraser for 2022. This isn’t a surprise, since the Canadian international is only one year in on his two-year contract. Still, it’s good to see him returning, especially in a position that could use his experience.
Fraser will be playing his third season with the team. He was heavily used in the short 2020 season, but injuries and international duties kept him off the pitch for long stretches in 2021. He ended up playing in 8 matches, starting each one, for a total of 597 minutes. Most of those minutes were at outside center, with just one match on the wing.
Alongside Thretton Palamo, Fraser will be one of the only experienced centers on the roster. With the departure of Ciaran Hearn and the arrival of two draft pick centers, Fraser’s experience will be essential for making sure the fresh faces get up to speed. Hopefully, Fraser remains healthy enough that we can see a bit more of him this upcoming season.
