Old Glory has announced the signing of Washington native John Lefevre. The 23-year-old scrumhalf out of Old Dominion University has been called up after playing well on Young Glory, OGDC's u23 academy side. He will likely sit behind Danny Tusitala and Danny Thomas on the depth chart. Jack Russell, a winger for Young Glory who has played with NOVA RFC, has also been called up to the senior squad. Both Russell and Lefevre are set to appear for Old Glory in today's match against the Toronto Arrows.
Old Glory has also brought in two other locals on training contracts. Hooker Tom Capriotti, who played in college rugby for Penn State, has come to the DC area. He was drafted by the San Diego Legion, but did not end up signing with the team. The other local is Michah Griffin, a player for Washington Irish who played with Young Glory early this year. As a teenger he played for the Northern Mariana Islands national soccer team, but now the 24-year-old has switched his efforts to rugby. Whether either player will see the pitch remains to be seen, but both are at least training with the senior team.
