Starting scrumhalf and 2022 captain Danny Tusitala isn't going anywhere. While it wasn't announced at the time, Tusitala is on a long-term deal with OGDC and has three more years on his contract. It's a significant commitment by the team to secure him for the long term, and also a big commitment by a player who has been at the core of the squad.

This is excellent for the team, obviously. Tusitala is an iconic player for DC, easily recognizable on the pitch and sporting a great personality. To describe him as a fan favorite probably doesn't do justice to how popular he is with the fans. He is the only player to have played in every MLR match that OGDC has participated in, earning him 37 caps with the team. In 2022 he spent 1,205 minutes on the pitch, bringing his grand total to 2830 minutes over his three years with the team. He scored twice, once at the very beginning of the season and once at the very end.

Even with the team struggling this season, it's quite clear that Tusitala will continue to be the first choice at scrumhalf for the foreseeable future. He is an absolute linchpin of the team's attack, and as the players around him began to gel and find their form Tusitala's contributions became all the more obvious. He's noted around the league for his fast play and dynamic running style.

MLR teams always experience a fair amount of turnover as players leave for other opportunities both in rugby and beyond, so it's a relief to know that Danny won't be one of the ones leaving.
